The building (in the photo far left) was erected in 1907. It
stands on the spot of an old-Pardubice pub “Baalu”. It was
rebuilt after being completely burnt down during the
Thirty-Years War. The owners were Berta and Zikmund Hostovský
– Jewish traders in flour and agricultural products. In 1932
their son Arnošt established a coffee-roasting factory. He
died in 1943 in Osvětim. In 1998 the present owners Milan and
Marek Bajer opened “Café Ve dvoře”, where they continue the
tradition of selling good coffee.
